Class Notes

At a time when social media and other forms of digital connection have greatly reduced the number of class notes at other schools, the class notes submitted by Fletcher alumni have remained robust. The vitality of your class notes reflects not only the dedication of our incredible class secretaries, but also the deep bonds that define the Fletcher community.

Your commitment to staying connected is more meaningful than ever.

1968

SALLY KYLE MILLER underwent a round of exams that revealed no recurrence of her cancer. Her family gathered to celebrate her 80th birthday last summer. What fun and joy! She continues working with charities and traveling. The local library's two book sales, where she is one of the two main cashiers, rang up over $33,000 in sales to fund scholarships and additions to the library's equipment, outreach, and enrichment programming. There was little traveling last year, just one old-fashioned train jaunt down along the south fork of the Potomac River in West Virginia, where the river is about six-to-eight feet deep. She was treated to marvelous sunset views across the Blue Ridge as she drove home.

1969

Last year, after 35 years in his international law firm, preceded by more than 20 years in Mexico’s foreign service and in academia, Ambassador ALBERTO SZEKELY intended to retire. However, in this challenging time for international law, there is still too much interesting legal work in his portfolio to undertake. ROGER WALLACE and his wife, Mary, have been spending most of their time at their farm, trying to keep their balance in this astonishing world we are living in. Roger turned 80 in October and is in good health, as are Mary, their children, and grandchildren.
