Fletcher Impact Report 2024 | 2025

Thank You

Dear Fletcher Family,

The Fletcher community distinguishes itself in countless ways—from shaping governmental policy to driving innovation and advancing change across civil society and intergovernmental organizations, and within private enterprises and the nonprofit sectors worldwide. We are proud of this impact and celebrate the remarkable accomplishments of our students, alumni, faculty, and staff.

Today, I am especially pleased to express our deep gratitude and appreciation for all that you do for Fletcher, our students, faculty, and the school. The Impact Report for fiscal year 2025 (July 1, 2024–June 30, 2025) highlights the tangible and meaningful difference you make every day at Fletcher. From propelling faculty research forward to expanding access through essential financial aid, you are central to our mission and to every milestone we achieve. We are delighted to share a few of these stories of impact with you.

These achievements also reflect our shared values—excellence, rigor, innovation, empathy, courage, and community—as well as an enduring commitment to interdisciplinary and multisectoral solutions to complex global challenges. Over this past year, we engaged in a robust strategic planning process that reaffirmed these values and highlighted our strengths that we can leverage as a school and community. With your continued dedication and support, we will foster understanding and generate ideas that transform lives and communities around the world.

As we look ahead, guided by our new Strategic Plan, I am inspired by your generosity and leadership, which elevate Fletcher and the global community we serve. Thank you for your lasting partnership in educating the leaders of today and tomorrow, and for helping to advance solutions to the world’s most pressing challenges.

This opportunity has changed my life, and I will never forget the hands that lifted me when I needed it most. Someday I will be that hand that reaches back, just as another reached for me. For every opportunity I’ve been given, I will strive to create another. Because for me the truest way to say ‘thank you’ is to ensure that future Fletcher students feel the same unwavering belief that carried me forward.”

Your support of Fletcher fuels our efforts, from preparing students with practical and theoretical skills to solve the most complex global challenges to expanding our reach through the research and thought leadership our faculty provide. Your contributions to Fletcher drive meaningful impact today and for our collective future.

Creating Experiential Learning Opportunities for Students

Experiential learning deepens academic knowledge, strengthens professional skillsets, and transforms classroom learning into real-world impact. It is a core component of the Fletcher education, elevating the marketability of students and transforming their educational experience. Below are some of the experiential learning opportunities our students enjoyed this year.

The Ripple Effect: Leveraging Donor Support to Reach Students Around the Globe

How do you translate a transformative experience into a legacy of impact? For Brad Meslin, F82, FG84, A21P, the answer was clear: Create pathways for learning and professional growth.

Through his visionary leadership and generous support, The Fletcher School, Tufts University, and additional donors have come together to launch the Fletcher Low-Interest Loan Program to empower students and expand international students’ access to a Fletcher education.

Fletcher’s world-renowned faculty are unparalleled in their dedication to students and are recognized for their achievements around the globe. Their expertise is evidenced by their impact on endeavors across many domains, whether advising governments or speaking on global issues, and by their prolific media engagements. The following highlights are reflective of the depth and breadth of the research and thought leadership that our faculty bring to the classroom and beyond.

Enhancing Teaching and Leading on the World's Stage

For decades, The Fletcher School’s International Security Studies Program—founded by visionary scholar and internationally recognized authority on global security, Professor Robert L. Pfaltzgraff Jr.—has shaped the minds of global leaders and strategic thinkers.

Fletcher is a school with very strong academic credentials and research credentials, but it’s also a school of practitioners. Fletcher has done a great job traveling down a path that has some aspects of tradecraft—training people to do things in the world—combined with absolutely first-rate academic credibility, and that is somewhat unique.”

Empowering Global Leadership: A Legacy of Vision and Impact

Known for interdisciplinary expertise and a curriculum that translates theory into practice, The Fletcher School was a natural partner for the Tavitian Foundation in launching a pivotal midcareer training program for Armenian public servants. For more than 25 years, this collaboration has empowered cohorts of Tavitian Scholars with the knowledge, skills, and global perspective needed to navigate the complexities of international relations and public leadership.
